Saturday morning Sheba and/or Nina picture

Okay, we're not quite ready to debut yet, but it's looking like the sell-trade post will go up on Monday, and I'm feeling confident enough about that that I'm willing to post a Sheba picture.

(It's blurry because I took it while running alongside her.)

Video of Interest: Rémi Gaillard

Ran across this at Colossal, enjoyed it, thought it was worth sharing. Rémi Gaillard is the artist; the video is titled "Foot Elevator," but I'm not sure if that's the actual title of the piece or just for YouTube purposes.

Pretty pictures: Masdevallia Sunset Jaguar 'Night Breed'

This was one of the first orchids at the show that made me think, WOW. I like Masdevallias anyway, but the idea of a purple one, with spots/stripes, still kind of blows my mind.

According to the tag, Masdevallia Sunset Jaguar 'Night Breed' is a cross between M. Copper Angel and M. chapaensis. The latter turns out to be nonexistent. They meant M. chaparensis, which contributed the purple color. (Copper Angel is, as the name suggests, orange.) So those of you who had 24 April in the pool for the first orchid tag error of 2012 pool are winners. (Congratulations!)

In Will-Mr.-Subjunctive-Ever-Start-Writing-Non-Orchid-Posts-Again news: well, we can hope. I'm writing this on Sunday morning, at which point I've put up photos, prices, and descriptions for about 80-90 plants, as well as a general explanation of the process. I'm going through my list of plants one last time to see what I've overlooked, and once I figure that out, I'll have another however many items to describe and photograph, the speed of which will be partly dependent on the weather, but it looks good at the moment. So perhaps this week?

(EDIT: Or maybe not. Google has chosen this week to roll out a new blogger interface, which basically means that I'm going to have to relearn how to write posts. Everything is now in different places, the HTML has gotten more opaque -- not that it was ever all that clear to begin with -- and this is possibly the worst time possible for them to decide to rearrange everything. I'd hoped that they'd give me the option of reverting to the old interface, but that's apparently gone forever. Fucking hell.)
